School-Wide Walk for Reconciliation

To bring our community together in acknowledgement of the discovery at the Kamloops Indian Residential School, classes read stories and had age-appropriate conversations about the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. We took a morning to walk together, to reflect, to meet in circle and to have moments of silence to pay respect to the families for their loss. Students wore orange, made signs, some wrote letters to the families of the deceased children and many talked about Canada's lesser-known history. Walking through our neighbourhood streets helped to bring awareness to our surrounding community.
