Literacy-Focused Professional Development

For the 2025–26 school year, we are dedicating several Professional Development (ProD) days to strengthening literacy instruction.

In September, Leyton Schnellert—Literacy Specialist and Professor at UBC Okanagan—worked with staff to emphasize the importance of responsive literacy programs in classrooms. Staff explored key components of inclusive reading instruction and learned how literacy assessments can inform instructional planning and decision-making.

On January 23, we will meet with Leyton again to review strategies implemented since September and collaboratively develop next steps to further support student literacy growth.
