Exploring Literacy in Kindergarten and Grade 1

We are excited to share a glimpse into the vibrant and engaging literacy learning happening in our Kindergarten/Grade 1 classroom!

Our students have been deeply involved in a variety of literacy centres that support the foundational building blocks of reading and writing. These centres are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a love of literacy from the very beginning.

Supported by a literacy grant, our program aligns with the School District’s Pillars of Literacy, ensuring that each learning opportunity is purposeful, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate. From letter recognition to phonemic awareness, and from storytelling to early writing skills, students are actively building the skills they need to become confident readers and writers.

We invite you to take some time to look at the attached document, which highlights the incredible work and learning taking place. You’ll see just how engaged and enthusiastic our young learners are as they explore, create, and grow through literacy.

Thank you for supporting our journey in building a strong foundation for lifelong learning!
